Tiffany & Co., the fabled American luxury goods retailer, has a long established watchmaking tradition. In fact, the clock installed—in 1853—on the façade of its hallmark building, was one of the first public clocks in the city of New York. From atop the superb image of the god Atlas, it was used by New Yorkers to adjust their watches on a regular basis. Tiffany recognizes itself as the inventor of the “New York minute” because in the Big Apple–as they say–“the minutes are not measured in seconds, but in being big, bold and always the first”. Review our selection of luxury timepieces.
Since opening in 1853, Tiffany has collaborated with the world’s top watch manufacturers such as the prestigious Patek Philippe, with whom they kept a long relationship. Today, Tiffany has gone solo and established its own headquarters in Switzerland. The new range of watches from its debut collections features 24 models, including the celebrated CT60 line.
CT60 is a tribute to the company’s founder Charles Tiffany and plays with the concept of the “New York minute”. The handmade mechanical timepiece dazzles for its use of fine materials and its minimalist, elegant and vintage design, which respects the formal feel of the Tiffany brand, with over 160 years of history.
The CT60 is inspired by a watch given to US President Franklin D. Roosevelt in 1945 as a birthday gift. The collection is available for men and women, and the prices vary according to the version and the materials chosen. The simpler models are priced around $4,000 while, the more sophisticated timepieces, in 18K gold with a chronograph and mechanical calendar, have a cost of $15,000.
On the other hand, East West is the brand’s new whimsical yet elegant collection. A unisex, quartz movement Swiss watch inspired by a Tiffany purse watch from the 1940s, it delivers a bold and innovative punch. The ultra thin timepiece features a rectangular and horizontal polished stainless steel case. Depending on the version, the dials could come in white, blue or black with numbers in silver or gold poudré and a black or blue alligator strap. Priced at $3,500, East West is fast becoming an instant classic among the esteemed brand’s followers.
The CT60 collection inspired by the city of New York, and the bold models of the East West collection, reaffirm the exceptional quality, high standards and historical craftsmanship of Tiffany’s legendary timepieces. ■
