One of New York’s most lavish hotels, The Mark is now ranked #1 on Bilanz’s list of The World’s 100 Best City Hotels. Located in the heart of Manhattan’s most elegant neighborhood, the five-star hotel is perfectly situated for arts, cultural and shopping sojourns.
In 2009, The Mark was completely reimagined with the expertise of an extraordinary group of talents headed up by French designer Jacques Grange, whose clients have included some of the world’s most exacting arbiters of style, among them Yves St. Laurent, Valentino, Aerin Lauder and Princess Caroline.
Grange selected and designed custom furniture for The Mark, and collaborated with the Parisian design gallerist Pierre Passebon to commission objets d’art, furniture and lighting fixtures specially created for the hotel by renowned artists and artisans, including Todd Eberle and Karl Lagerfeld.
Each of the hotel’s rooms and suites is a luxurious retreat from the hubbub of New York City. Options range from queen and king rooms including courtyard, Madison Avenue, and 77th Street views to a garden suite or a five-bedroom terrace suite with south, west, and north exposures. Guests will also notice the custom fragrance “Jurassic Flower” by master perfumer Frédéric Malle wafting throughout the hallways.
For dining, The Mark Restaurant features an innovative menu specially crafted by three Michelin star chef Jean-Georges Vongerichten. The sumptuous cuisine offered in the restaurant and in-room is all conceptualized by Jean-Georges.
The hotel’s lively Mark Bar, designed with specially made furnishings by Guy de Rougemont and Vladimir Kagan, is the most stylish meeting spot on Madison Avenue. Guests and locals alike gather here for delicious handcrafted cocktails.
Famous hair stylist Frédéric Fekkai offers a full spectrum of hair and beauty services in his salon — including a high level of pampering and his eponymous products.

It’s also within walking distance of New York’s top museums, including the Solomon R. Guggenheim and The Metropolitan Museum of Art.
Guests who want to immerse themselves in New York’s art scene will appreciate the “Cultivated Experience,” a private guided tour of the museum of their choice along with a personal chauffeur and “Artist’s Afternoon Tea” served in their room afterward. Insider VIP access to special exhibits at MoMA, studio tours with popular artists and private gallery viewings can also be arranged.
For shopping, a plethora of chic stores and boutiques are close by, including Louis Vuitton, Hermès, Chanel, Cartier and more. Barneys New York is also in the vicinity, and a call to The Mark Concierge will grant you private access to a range of goods and services from Bergdorf Goodman.
