Real estate is one of Manhattan’s scarcest commodities, and during peak tourism season, even temporary accommodations like hotel rooms find themselves sold out city-wide. From quirky culture to opulent amenities, no two travelers are looking for the same hotel experience in the city that never sleeps, but in the tiny island accustomed to more than one million visitors per day, you can bet that the hotel industry has an ideal setup for just about everyone, except triplex penthouses. The Time New York, mere minutes away from Times Square is one of the city’s best-kept secrets for an indulgent getaway.
Take the elevator to the top of The Time New York, a hotel destination for the creatively-minded, and you’ll discover 2,000-square-feet of penthouse space spread among three private floors. A living room (with a pullout sofa bed) and dining area with a kitchenette comprise the first level, setting the stage for quiet comfort and chic hospitality. The king-size master bedroom, sauna and expansive marble bathroom with an oversized soaking tub and rainfall showerhead remain secluded on the second level, where one of the penthouse’s hidden gems is also found. Here, the dressing room fulfills every closet fantasy with what can only be described as a room-sized jewel set in brushed gold, designed for guests to primp and preen to their heart’s content. It’s a closet fit for a star or, more attainably, a bride, making the penthouse triplex a popular bridal shower venue.
The third level of this towering suite boasts a cozy sitting room with access to one of its private terraces and, while it may offer panoramic views from the apex of the entire hotel, it’s not even the showstopper. Below, on the first level, a main terrace that brings the penthouse’s outdoor square footage to 500 sq ft. offers expansive views of the Hudson River and encourages use of the triplex as the ultimate special event venue with capacity for up to 100 guests. Customizable menus are available for receptions, and state-of-the-art AV technology is available for presentations. There’s no limit to the ways any exclusive gathering from 2-100 people can appreciate the sprawling space.
The triplex’s architectural decadence is complemented by carefully selected luxury appointments within. Standouts include designer furniture on Siberian oak floors, Italian linens and exclusive Margiela bath amenities. Three smart TVs with USB and HDMI connectivity and a safe with USB charger are just some of the penthouse’s technological perks representative of The Time New York’s overall vibe of chic sophistication.
Below, on the The Time’s mezzanine level, the semi-hidden LeGrande Lounge offers a swanky spot to sip cocktails at the bar or guests can enjoy one of several secluded seating areas. It’s intentionally a tad tricky to find, but definitely difficult to leave. That is, if one ever chooses to leave the magnificent triplex penthouse at all. ■
