Hotel Casa Fuster, built in Barcelona, Spain, offers guests a 5-star luxurious experience via its modernist approach to luxury, after being converted into a hotel in 2004.
The hotel, also known as a five-star Grand Luxury Monument, and member of The Leading Hotels of the World, is an authentic jewel of modernism that can be felt in each of its corners. As a result, staying in this hotel is much more than luxury.
Hotel Casa Fuster is one of the most emblematic buildings in the city and one of the most beautiful in the world. Staying here allows you to soak up history, art and luxury surrounded by modernist pieces at the top of Passeig de Gràcia.
Its origins date back to the year 1902, when Mariano Fuster commissioned the builder to construct for his wife what would be the most expensive house of its time, which would then become the greatest legacy of modernist architect Lluís Domènech i Montaner in the city.
The Hoteles Center chain acquired the building in 2000 and restored it, with respect to the originality of the building, while enhancing the uniqueness and spectacular nature of this fantastic architectural piece.
Once the restoration was completed the hotel opened its doors in 2004. The result is a spectacular façade based on white marble, beautiful curves and ornaments representative of Mother Nature (so characteristic of modernism) that is mixed with an avant-garde interior design in which the entrance, when it was built, was where the carriages of the Catalan noblemen entered.
Café Vienés, chosen by Woody Allen for his jazz concerts
This space is one of the key places of the hotel. With mosaics in the windows, wood, pink marble columns, a Catalan volta roof, gold leaf, and all kinds of modern details, the cafe is open to the public to eat excellent cuisine and listen to live music.
Since its construction, the Café Vienés area had several functions including small businesses, such as a barbershop and a grocery store, and was also a meeting point for intellectuals of the time.
Prior to that, in the mid-50s, the café was a dance hall named “The Danube Blue.”
Every Thursday the café hosts exclusive jazz concerts for fans in its unique atmosphere, seeing how it is the place chosen by Woody Allen to perform his concerts in Barcelona.
In addition, great artists have tried and showcased the café’s coffee, such as the Yoshida Brothers, Eddy Davis, Conal Fowkes, Doc Scalon Trio, the New Orleans Rag Trio.
Rooms to daydream
The large windows allow the entrance of natural light in all the rooms, which are decorated with noble materials such as cherry wood and parquet floors.
Its furniture, of exclusive design, follows the modernist lines of the time in combination with elements of contemporary design.
The hotel also offers deluxe suites, deluxe family rooms and a large suite measuring 97 m2, with a unique balcony that allows you to see all the Passeig de Gràcia, from start to finish, as well as the sea out in the distance.
The best hotel to hold events
A space of such magnitude is a place for business meetings, various events and weddings, due to the magical environment the space creates.
In the incomparable setting of the noble floor of the Hotel Casa Fuster, is the Galaxó Restaurant, where you can taste a Mediterranean and avant-garde menu, made with fresh seasonal products, set in a unique atmosphere.
The restaurant, rich and simple at the same time, creates a fusion between a successful execution and an elegant presentation.
In addition, the hotel presents eleven functional spaces for weddings and rooms where, both individuals and companies, can make presentations and host corporate events.
Overall, these soundproofed spaces have a capacity of up to 400 people, and offer natural light and the most modern technology.
The reading room or library is intended for book lovers who wish to find a moment to relax and let themselves be carried away by the pleasure of a good book.
Not in vain, important personalities from the world of culture have passed through this area, making the hotel a place always linked to culture.
Panoramic views on your terrace
Not only the interior presents great comfort. The hotel has the privilege of being the only viewpoint from the highest area of the Passeig de Gràcia in Barcelona, offering panoramic views of virtually the entire city.
At the Carta Terraza Mirador Blue View guests can enjoy a drink, swim in the pool, get their fitness on at the gym, and relax out on the large sun terrace with sun loungers and parasols.
It is also a fantastic area where appetizers of all kinds of events are usually offered. ■
