The first day of July, on the 10th anniversary of the death of famed actor Marlon Brando, The Brando hotel will make its much-anticipated debut, a luxury resort located in Tetiaroa, the pristine private atoll that the American actor owned in French Polynesia.
Tetiaroa was once a retreat for Tahiti´s royal family, and in 1965 the actor acquired the property. Marlon Brando chose this idyllic island as his private sanctuary after filming here some scenes from Mutiny on the Bounty, the 1962 film directed by Lewis Milestone.
The Brando is an eco-resort that offers carefree luxury in a historically protected biosphere. With access to the island by private plane from Papeete, Tahiti’s capital, the resort boasts white sandy beaches, coconut palms, exotic birds and abundant marine life. Designed to reflect the lifestyle and culture of Polynesia, the complex uses only renewable energies such as coconut oil, solar power and a new air conditioning system based on seawater.
