The Claasen shipyard in Zaandam, Netherlands, is famous for its the intelligent combination of technology and cutting edge design. This alliance of expertise is evident in its new traditional sailing superyacht, which feature an aluminum structure, created primarily for the high demands of international competition. Over the past decade, Claasen has gained recognition for the remarkable performance of its classic yachts Atalante, Heartbeat, Copihue, Mulligan, Kealoha and Velacarina. Its latest release is the Truly Classic sailing yacht Atalante II 127, the largest produced by the Dutch shipyard to date with 127 feet in length.
The TC 127 Atalante II is distinguished by its harmonious sailing yacht line, with a low, modern and high-performance body. Designed by renowned naval architect Andre Hoek, the deck layout incorporates a private cabin at the stern and two guest cabins in the middle area, all with the distinctive style of the design firm Hoek Design. The interior of this stunning yacht has a classic character, with raised wood panels and white details embossed above the frieze. “The lower lounge, which features a warm fireplace, is connected to the main cabin and when the owners are alone on board, they have nearly half the boat at their disposal,” says designer André Hoek. In front of the engine room, there are two spacious guest cabins, one double and one single.
The large forward cabin is exclusively reserved for the crew members. Built according to MCA LY2 code safety regulations, the Atalante II delivers optimal performance. The lines of the hull, keel and the design of the sail plan— over 10,000 square feet— are the result of extensive research in wind pressure tests conducted by the naval architects in charge of the project.
The TC 127 Atalante II was originally conceived as a Classic 126, but during its construction it was necessary to incorporate one additional foot to improve its performance. The final product is a unique vessel capable of competing in races such as the Superyacht Cup and the demanding Spirit of Tradition. At the same time, the TC 127 is a very comfortable and luxurious private cruise ship.■
