Every year, we ask the same question: what surprises will we get from the most exclusive luxury automakers in the world? In this article, we want to tell you about the most talked-about models by three of our favorite automotive brands—Bugatti, Ferrari and Aston Martin.
Bugatti Chiron
Let’s start with one of the most expensive models of 2018, the Bugatti Chiron. The latest from the classic French brand has surpassed its predecessor in power, speed and elegance.
With an 8L W16 engine, 4 turbochargers and 1,500 horsepower, it achieves surprising performance: from zero to 60 mph in 1.5 seconds. Its final speed is electronically limited to 261 mph as Bugatti engineers determined its tires wouldn’t be safe past that point. The Chiron is not only faster and more powerful than its predecessor, the Veyron, but also more elegant and refined.
This Bugatti model is available at a market price of around US$ 2.5 million—depending on package and upgrades—making it one of the most expensive and exclusive series production cars on the market.

Aston Martin Valkyrie
The emblematic British automaker and Red Bull partnered to develop the Aston Martin Valkyrie, a road car that would duplicate the experience of a professional Formula 1 driver.
The Valkyrie has a 6.5L V12 engine that provides 1,145 horsepower, with a power-to-weight ratio of 1 horse per 2 pounds. All these features, coupled with a truly avant-garde aerodynamic design of huge tunnels to channel and maximize airflow, promise a performance very close to those of professional race cars; its price is also similar: around US$ 3 million.
Ferrari LaFerrari Aperta
The Ferrari LaFerrari Aperta was also one of the most expensive cars in 2018. To celebrate the 70th anniversary of the brand, Ferrari introduced the Ferrari LaFerrari Aperta, a convertible/spider version of its LaFerrari, which amazingly has the same performance and acceleration as the hardtop model. Using a sophisticated aerodynamic approach, the celebrated Maranello house managed to develop a convertible model that offers the same torsional rigidity as the original, making it the best sports convertible in the world.
With a hybrid engine that combines 800 horsepower and a V12, along with an electric motor of 163 horsepower, the Aperta reaches a total 960 horses and ensures an eco-friendly consumption. Another grandiose feature of this limited special edition car is its butterfly doors, which open upward like a guillotine. Its price is around US$ 5.9 million.
The Most Expensive In History
Lastly, we want to mention the most expensive car ever, the Rolls Royce Sweptail. This model, limited to one unit, was made upon request, based on the wishes of an anonymous customer who wanted a Rolls that featured the classic lines of the 1920 models, combined with the characteristic lines of the super sport yacht. After three years of hard work, the Sweptail was finally handed over to its owner, who paid about US$ 13 million for the privilege of owning this extraordinary personalized automobile.
The most valuable car ever built is from Bugatti. With a sale price of 16.7 million euros ($ 19 million), the La Voiture Noire model was publicly presented in March 2019 at the Geneva International Motor Show in Switzerland.
Year after year, luxury car manufacturers strive to attract and captivate the attention of the world’s elite, a tiny niche market in which eccentricities seem to have no limits. ■
