Hublot, the Swiss manufacturer of luxury timepieces, has created a limited edition set of Big Bang Aero watches in collaboration with Johnnie Walker House in Beijing, the world’s largest embassy for luxury Scotch whisky culture outside Scotland.
Inspired by the “Art of Fusion” philosophy, the two firms came together for the first time for a common purpose. Hublot represents the essence of the tradition, beauty and high technology of Swiss horology, while Johnnie Walker is one of the best-selling whiskeys in the world with a rising popularity in Asia, where they opened new offices in Shanghai, Beijing and Seoul.
The watch comes in an elegant 44 mm black ceramic case, with a sphere of the same color that evokes the dark smoky hue of the whisky. This classic piece is powered by a self-winding skeleton aero chronograph movement, which reveals its beautiful skeletonized mechanics. The double strap is made with alligator skin, and the buckles use copper to symbolize the stills where the whisky is distilled.
The splendid Hublot Big Bang Aero elegantly features the John Walker & Sons monogram on the face of the watch while the visage of John Walker, founder of the brand, is echoed on the back case. Manufactured exclusively in China, only 25 copies will be available to the public.
During the recent presentation of the watch, Loic Biver, CEO of Hublot China, said: “The appreciation of time and whisky have a lot in common. Both embody the elite’s pursuit of excellent quality and art of enjoying life. I hope this cross-border cooperation between Hublot and Johnnie Walker will lead to a new wave in the luxury field.”
For his part, Lawrence Law, Global CEO of Johnnie Walker House, said: “Our firm has given us a platform to create bespoke experiences for our luxury consumers and partners. The partnership with Hublot once again brings to life our focus on product innovation and creation of limited edition collections in order to set new standards in luxury whisky experiences. ■
