Many craft enthusiasts consider Fort Lauderdale as the world capital for yachting. Famous for its many canals and access to a coastline full of marinas and yacht clubs, this picturesque Florida city— can be thought of an American Venice and one of the largest marine parks in the world.
For more than five decades, Fort Lauderdale has hosted a superb yearly exhibition that brings together the international marine industry, and in recent years has become one of the most important and anticipated yachting events in the world: the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show. Surpassing all expectations, this year the legendary show has seven locations, an exhibition area of almost 3 million square feet and about 4 billion worth of goods: mega yachts, sport fishing boats, sailboats, jet skis and the most varied products, accessories and services.
This unique event will be held from October 30th to November 3rd 2014. A great variety of products and services will amaze even the most demanding experts. Besides small fishing boats with outboard motors and gigantic super yachts and transatlantic sailboats, this exhibition also offers training seminars, testing of complementary products and entertainment programs like live music, diving courses and fishing tours, among many other peripheral options.
In addition to the boat show, visitors can attend displays dedicated exclusively to high-end cars or private jets and a hall that showcases personal submarines and exclusive water toys. See more luxury toys here.
It has become a tradition at the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show to introduce splendid crafts to the market. The most famous shipyards in the world choose Florida to reveal their latest creations. This year, the presentation highlights a number of recently completed superyachts. On example is the Riva 122 Mythos. This yacht, the largest produced by the Italian firm offers all the sportiness that distinguishes the Riva brand, combined with exquisite luxury, modernity and distinction. Also presented at the show, the Benetti 140 Veloce is the first superyacht with a displacement speed system. The design of its D2P hull provides a drag thrust under the waterline that optimizes the acceleration of the vessel by 30 percent and allows a maximum speed of 20 knots. The Atomic de Sunrise Yachts will also be available. This stunning 147-foot yacht is part of the Project Sunset. The Turkish shipyard Sunrise Yachts has decided to exhibit the boat at the Ft. Lauderdale Boat Show —before delivering to its new owner— in order to promote its operational capabilities.
Other vessels that arouse much interest in the event this year are, among others: Sanlorenzo SD112, from the Italian shipyard Sanlorenzo Yachts; 100 Sky Master from Paragon Motor Yachts in Taiwan; Entourage, a 155-foot yacht from Italian Sea Group, the luxurious Arcadia 85, from the Italian shipyard of the same name, and the highly anticipated debut of the Ferretti Yachts 650.
The Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show 2014 is a must for craft enthusiasts and an unbeatable opportunity for those thinking about buying a boat or improving their fleet. ■
