Automotive luxury, comfort and performance are often associated with lack of environmental awareness at the expense of precious renewable resources. Henrik Fisker, a Danish automobile designer, has introduced an electric luxury vehicle that sets new automotive standards, betting on the reduction of our environmental footprint without sacrificing luxury. The Fisker Karma attempts to harness several power sources to optimize its performance and increase the effectiveness of its energy consumption.
The vehicle’s exterior design is a meditative reflection of nature’s windswept sand dunes–a shape that by definition decreases air resistance. With the largest solar glass roof ever built for a production vehicle, the Karma increases its annual driving range by 200 miles. The interior design is manufactured from recycled and reusable materials sourced from Fallen, Sunken, and Rescued wood™. Sunken wood has a white oak finish and develops a beautiful patina from being dormant at bottom of Lake Michigan for more than 300 years. No live trees are ever used in the manufacturing of this Danish model.
The Karma comes with a standard 110V convenience charger, and the battery can be fully replenished in a period of 6 to 14 hours. It can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in 6.3 seconds, and holds a top speed of 125 mph. Unlike the Tesla roadster, the Fisker can be driven in the all-electric Stealth Mode, or in the fuel assisted Sport Mode. Fisker patented EVer™ technology uses an electric generator and a battery pack to support the gasoline engine. Celebrities like Leonardo DiCaprio, Matt Damon, Justin Bieber and Ashton Kutcher have been spotted driving these green cars. ■
