Hennessy cognac is one of the most recognized premium spirits in the world today. The label has a long tradition and is part of LVMH—the French multinational conglomerate and the world’s largest manufacturer of luxury goods, including the firms Moet-Chandon and Louis Vuitton. Its current relevance would not be possible without its rich 250-year history. For the occasion, the brand has released a special edition called Hennessy 250 Collectors Blend.
This iconic French brand was founded by Richard Hennessy in 1765, on lands he received from the hands of King Louis XV as a reward for services rendered to the French crown. Richard initially developed the business of producing spirits to be sold in his native Ireland. Later his son, James, grew the brand into a partnership with the renowned winemaker Jean Fillioux. Both families have preserved the tradition as creators and producers of elite spirits for eight generations, and today their descendants remain at the forefront of the company.
As a business, Hennessy has always aimed for expansion and innovation. It was one of the first companies in the world to commercialize a locally bottled product. Today, the company boasts the most advanced production and packaging techniques, which allow them to protect the sustainability of its raw material sources, located in the region of Cognac in France.
This innovative spirit and international expansion led the company to send its first shipment to the United States as early as 1792. It arrived in Russia in 1818 as a birthday gift for Tsar Alexander I, commissioned by the Empress Maria Feodorovna. In 1859, the destination was China, where it would quickly become a tradition among wealthy families.
The Hennessy 250 Collectors Edition was conceived by the master blender Yann Fillioux, the seventh generation of the family in cognac production. Fillioux chose among more than one hundred blends of cognac between 15 and 35 years aged in handmade French oak barrels to achieve the right combination that communicates power, vivacity and elegance on the palate.
The result is a soft cognac with a very intense amber color, slightly spicy aroma and flavor with hints of orange, mint, clove and some traces of chocolate and saffron. In the palate, it offers a friendly ending with a mellow flavor and a clear presence of oak.
Each of the bottles will be numbered and for those customers who want to personalize them, Hennessy’s website offers a complementary service to create a custom engraving of the glass bottles.
The display box with a metallic copper colored cover shows a stunning design symbolizing the international impact of the brand in its 250-year history. The Hennessy 250 Collectors Blend is the ultimate creation of a major representative of the liquor industry, which invites everyone to celebrate its long history with a first class product. ■
