These holidays may be a good time to renew our cellars and add new exquisite liquors. The following list will probably bring a different, international flavor to your celebrations.
Chambord Liqueur
The essence of France
Produced in France’s Loire Valley, this liqueur was first mentioned in 1685, when King Louis XIV visited the magnificent Castle of Chambord and after the first sip became enamored with it. The essential ingredients in Chambord Liqueur are red and black raspberries, honey, vanilla from Madagascar and cognac. The raspberries are mixed by an infusion process that delivers an extremely concentrated base. Subsequently, this mixture goes through a second infusion before being mixed with cognac. Finally, Moroccan citrus peel, honey and a touch of aromatic herbs are added. The hand of the master blender is fundamental to this process. He is an expert who brings years of experience to find the balance of the different flavors and create the perfect combination. Chambord comes in a beautiful spherical bottle with a distinctive gold label and topped with a striking crown.
Limone Amaro
The fresh and natural flavor of Italy
Limoncello is a typically Italian liqueur obtained by macerating selected lemons in alcohol. It is usually served at the end of any Italian meal or celebration, and although it is a product of Campania and made with juicy lemons from the Amalfi Coast, it is also produced in other parts of the country. The Bepi Tosoloni distillery, located in Friuli-Venezia Giulia, an autonomous region of northeastern Italy, produces one of the best limoncellos of the transalpine country. Thanks to Limone Amaro´s unique recipe, it is possible to “rediscover” the fresh and natural flavor of lemons combined with delicate notes of lemon balm, mint, sage and select bitter herbs, which result in a different and distinctive taste. Limoncello must always be served very cold.
Jägermeister
The strength of Germany
Very popular in Lower Saxony, Germany, Jägermeister is made using more than 56 herbs, flowers, roots and different fruits of high quality and excellent flavor. A liquor that has transcended the borders of Germany, it has among its main ingredients ginger, cinnamon, star anise, cardamom and orange zest. Its flavor goes beyond the sum of its components and becomes a unique taste that masterfully combines sweet nuances with subtle bitter notes. To fully enjoy and appreciate its intensity, serve it in a small glass, at a temperature of 68 degrees. ■
