Italian designer Roberto Coin and fine jewelry and timepiece retailer MAYORS have joined forces for an exclusive capsule collection. The Marquesa Collection—available only in Miami MAYORS retail stores and online—solidifies a time-honored relationship between the Venetian designer and retailer. Before becoming a renowned jewelry designer and MAYORS staple, Roberto Coin excelled as a hotelier. In 1977, Coin decided to pursue his passion for art and design and turned to the world of high-end jewels. Before launching his own eponymous firm, he worked creating jewelry for other Italian brands. For over 30 years, MAYORS has been a distributor of the designer’s pieces.
“Roberto Coin is thrilled to collaborate with MAYORS on the Marquesa Collection. Not only is it beautiful, but it represents the commitment we have to this long partnership, our customers, and the jewelry world at large,” said Peter Webster, Co-Owner and President of Roberto Coin. “Marquesa is the perfect embodiment of innovative design and timeless elegance– both pillars of the Roberto Coin and MAYORS brands.”
Roberto Coin has long been recognized for his attention to detail and impeccable craftsmanship, and this capsule collection is no exception. The Marquesa Collection includes earrings, rings, necklaces and bangles fabricated in 18K white gold and adorned by round brilliant cut diamonds in clusters that create marquise shapes. The pieces are elegant and streamlined, but perhaps the collection’s most impressive aspect is its versatility. Coin has managed to put together an array of jewelry that would look striking with your favorite cocktail dress, tried and true pair of jeans, or newest evening gown. The pieces can easily be mixed, matched and layered.
Each jewelry creation also bears the iconic designer’s signature: a small hidden ruby sending well wishes to the wearer. Since 1996, and starting with his Appassionata collection, Coin has included this ruby detail on the inside of all of his designs. Coin’s theory of a connection between rubies, prosperity, health and happiness originates from the ancient Egyptian belief that rubies are a magical stone, particularly when they come into contact with the skin. Coin is also respected for making ethical decisions, and his company follows international treaties to ensure that any materials used in his jewelry are being sourced conflict-free.
For the leading retailer of fine jewelry and timepieces in the Southeastern United States, this important collaboration with a longstanding partner is also representative of where the heritage jewelry and timepiece retailer is headed. In 2018, a year after being acquired by the Watches of Switzerland Group, MAYORS announced a major relaunch that focused on improving their e-commerce site and expanding their digital presence. The multi-phase relaunch also included a redesign of their store fronts. MAYORS is currently working with established brands including Pamela Love, Mikimoto and Messika on exclusive pieces and will also add their own Bridal collection to their portfolio. The relaunch, and this capsule collection, is MAYORS’ foray into high-end jewelry sales today, where consumers value individuality. ■
