With stunning views of the Miami skyline, Swiss watchmaker Omega recently launched Seamster Aqua Terra, its new collection of timepieces that pay tribute to the brand’s maritime legacy.
Raynald Aeschlimann, President and CEO of Omega on Nov. 7 hosted a cocktail reception at a private villa on Hibiscus Island in Miami, Florida that also featured special guest Alessandra Ambrosio.
Welcoming the Brazilian model to the event, Aeschlimann said: “The new watches represent a combination of beauty and precision. Alessandra looks so confident at sea—and it goes without saying, very beautiful—so we’re very happy that she is the face of our new models.”

The ocean played a major role in the new Aqua Terra advertising campaign, featuring Ambrosio enjoying an idyllic summer’s day on board an elegant yacht in the Mediterranean. Ambrosio called her experience of making the ad campaign “One of the most fun modeling jobs I’ve done.”
She said she loved the new Aqua Terra Ladies’ models. “They have a very classic refined style, but when you look closer you discover amazing feminine details.”
Other celebrity and famous Omega ambassadors include Eddie Redmayne, George Clooney, Nicole Kidman, Cindy Crawford, Rory McIlroy, Michael Phelps, Buzz Aldrin and Daniel Craig.
The Omega brand is synonymous with a pioneering spirit, demonstrated by its conquests of the oceans and space. Since 1965, the Omega Speedmaster has been worn on each of NASA’s manned missions, including all six moon landings.
In sports timekeeping, no brand is more actively involved in sailing than Omega. Aeschlimann said, “Sailing is a noble sport which has a lot of emotion. There are a lot of values around sailing. Sailors are very passionate and sailing embraces the skills of people both on and off the water. The technology behind boat making is truly state-of-the-art.”
Omega will be the official timekeeper for the 13th edition of the 2017-18 Volvo Ocean Race, a round-the-world yacht race that kicked off in Alicante, Spain in October 2017 and will conclude in The Hague, Netherlands in June 2018.
Since 1932, Omega also has served as the official timekeeper of the Olympic Games on 27 occasions. Aeschlimann says that the fact that “Omega is the only watch brand anyone sees during the Olympic Games is incredibly valuable.”
