Stephan Badal is not only one of the leading couturiers in Belgium, but also one who enjoys international acclaim with a distinguished clientele that includes Michelle Obama, Chelsea Clinton, the Spanish royal family and actress Eva Longoria, as well as a select list of European aristocrats.

His clients, who range from 23 to 86 years of age, come to Antwerp, Belgium’s fashion capital, season after season, because they know they can rely on the designer for privacy and exclusivity. When they go back home, they take with them their favorite haute couture gowns and bespoke suits to wear to their most important social engagements. On the other hand, his wedding gowns are a favorite with young European brides.
Badal has more than 20 years experience in fashion. At 10 years old he knew he wanted to be a fashion designer. He would eventually graduate from Charles Montaigne Couture Fashion Academy in Amsterdam.
In 2002 he moved to Belgium, specifically Antwerp, in order to further advance his career in haute couture. His designs are known worldwide for their special attention to detail, excellent craftsmanship and perfect fit.
The designer, better known for his couture creations, launched his first prêt-à-porter collection in 2012. A year earlier he had produced his first line of exclusive handbags. His passion for high fashion is evident in creations that shy away from simplicity in favor of something special and unique.
Stephan Badal‘s versatile couture collection for spring-summer 2013 plays with light woven tweed, silk, lace and silk taffeta in beautiful combinations of pastels and bright colors. And like every year, the wedding gowns will be the absolute highlights of the season, although there is something special for men as well: impeccably tailored suits. Badal continues to bring, year after year, authentic works of art to the catwalk.
Mr. Badal married his boyfriend of 12 years, Stefan Ottaer, on June 8th, in a civil ceremony at Antwerp’s city hall. The reception took place at Castle den Brandt. ■
