Since Aquazzura‘s entry into the world of high-fashion footwear, women have been proclaiming their love for the brand. Edgardo Osorio, the talented designer behind the line, launched Aquazzura in 2011, and just four years later, his designs are available globally, at top retailers in 45 countries. The young Osorio, born in Cartagena de Indias, Colombia, grew up between Miami and London. This upbringing provided him a cosmopolitan point of view to create impeccable designs that merge European aesthetics, modern American sensibility and Latin flair.
Vibrant hues and graphic elements pay tribute to popular icons from Andy Warhol or Roy Lichtenstein to Pharell Williams. The collection highlights strappy sandals in vibrant shades—hot pink, aqua, and red with graphic stripes. There are also feminine classic pumps with fun cut outs, and lace detailing and elegant lace-up flats in cognac and black, which go effortlessly from day to night. The collection embraces femininity, and for good reason: “Women are my biggest inspiration,” Osorio says.Although Aquazzura’s celebrity clientele is extensive, with acolytes like Jennifer Lawrence, Reese Witherspoon and Julianne Moore, Osorio‘s real excitement comes from seeing how the everyday woman brings his designs to life. The everyday woman inspires the upcoming fall/winter collection. Travelling, and Instagram have become research tools for the designer, who describes his client as an avid traveler, someone who is active and loves life.
Osorio‘s flair for fun, feminine design is coupled with a clear understanding of how important the perfect pair of shoes can be for a woman. “It’s always been about shoes,” Osorio says. “I feel so close to shoes. I love how happy they make people, how they instantly change the way a woman walks, moves and feels.” ■
