We can already foresee the first lights of the most important art event in the United States. Art Basel Miami Beach just presented its list of galleries and projects that will descend upon Miami for the Fair’s 2015 edition. This year it will include no less than 267 prestigious galleries from 32 countries from North America, South America, Europe, Asia and Africa.

The event will be open to the public from December 3rd to the 6th and, as usual, the elite of international gallerists, artists, collectors, curators, museum directors and critics will be in attendance, attracted by a wide selection of some of the best exponents of world art.

Among this year’s attractions, the fair highlights the presence of 20 first-time galleries. The institutions representing the American continent for the first time are Arredondo Arozarena, Castelli Gallery, Cristin Tierney Gallery, Essex Street, François Ghebaly Gallery George Adams Gallery, Hannah Hoffman Gallery, Jenkins Johnson Gallery, Galeria SIM, Thomas Duncan Gallery and Universal Limited Art Editions. Representing Europe are: Beck & Eggeling, Galerie Gregor Staiger, Hunt Kastner, KOW, Kraupa-Tuskany Zeidler, Marcelle Alix, Mathew Gallery, Galerie Max Mayer, Mazzoleni, Noga Gallery of Contemporary Art, Gallery Plan B, Project Native Informant, Vedovi Gallery Vistamare and Robilant + Voena. And Asia-Pacific will debut the Beijing Art Now Gallery, Tokyo Gallery + BTAP and White Space Beijing.

True to its spirit of renewal in each edition, the event will demonstrate its characteristic diversity highlighting emerging trends and styles in the art scene. Art Galleries—the main sector of the fair—will feature 191 of the best galleries in the world, which are ready to display the most representative and innovative in painting, drawing, printing techniques, sculpture, installation, photography, editions and video. The regular galleries will now be joined by new exhibitors such as the Vedovi Gallery and Mazzoleni, while other institutions that were not present in the previous edition, such as Galerie Barbara Thumm and ProjecteSD, will exhibit again this year.

Art Edition, one of the most anticipated sectors, has added twelve international leaders in the field of printmaking and limited editions, two genres that tend to be underestimated and find in Art Basel the power to boost and promote exponents of inestimable quality. Among the graphic arts workshops present im Art Basel Miami Beach 2015 stand out Alan Cristea Gallery, Carolina Nitsch, Crown Point Press, Gemini GEL LLC, Pace Prints, Paragon, Paul Stolper Gallery, Polígrafa Obra Grafica SL, Sabine Knust, STPI, Two Palms and Universal Limited Art Editions.

Art history lovers will be delighted to find once more the Survey sector, which became one of the main attractions at Art Basel last year because it invites the audience to witness curatorships of historical information. The 2015 edition will present 14 exhibits, which include works by Charles Burchfield (DC Moore Gallery), Peter Campus (Cristin Tierney Gallery), Gianni Colombo (Robilant + Voena), Roy DeCarava (Jenkins Johnson Gallery), Rosalyn Drexler (Garth Greenan Gallery), Dorothy Iannone (Peres Projects), Wang Jinsong (Beijing Art Now Gallery), Heinz Mack (Beck & Eggeling), Roberto Burle Marx (Bergamin & Gomide), Shinjiro Okamoto (Tokyo Gallery + BTAP), Miguel Ángel Rojas (Espaivisor), Peter Saul (George Adams Gallery), Keith Sonnier (Castelli Gallery) and Ettore Spalletti (Vistamare).

In the groupings under the banner of Art Positions, visitors will find 16 stands with individual samples of emerging artists. This is an area that reflects a spectrum of contrasting projects. For example, Francois Ghebaly Gallery will present an installation by Dan Bayles that will work during the course of the event interacting with other works on display. The Max Mayer Gallery brings Polyrhytm Technoir, a film in three parts by Henning Fehr and Phillip Rühr, which contains allegories to the current state of electronic music. The body explorations by B.Ingrid Olson will be displayed at the Simone Subal Gallery, while the public will see performance by Thomas Wacholz in Raebervon Stenglin and a series of inks on paper by El Xiangyu at the White Space Beijing Gallery. These are just a few examples that highlight Positions as a comprehensive multi-regional record of what is happening with today’s art.

Once again, the Art Nova sector is a platform to allow circuit galleries representing young art to show recent works of up to three artists. This year it will feature 34 exhibitors. The section has become well known as a space to discover the artistic wealth scattered all over the world And in its 2015 edition it will be one of the sectors with higher public participation. It will include a group of proposals of vital and transgressive art, documenting at the same time the budding career of their creators.

As in years past, the five sectors work together to create a giant global showcase, which will display—under one roof—the traditional paradigms of modern art alongside the most representative examples of conceptualism.

In the coming weeks more details will be unveiled about the program of talks, discussions, panels, book presentations and public exchange with experts from the complex world of the arts. What is already confirmed is that once again, the South Florida museums will organize their most ambitious projects to coincide with the fair. It will also be an excellent opportunity for art-loving tourists interested in culture to visit Miami’s most outstanding private art collections, such as the Cisneros Fontanals Art Foundation (CIFO), Cruz Collection Contemporary Art Space, the Margullies Collection at The Warehouse, and the Rubell Family Collection. Once more, Art Basel will be joined by local satellite fairs like Art Pulse, Art Scope and Art Miami among others, as well as the eleventh edition of Design Miami, the most important design forum that takes place at an international level, bringing together the world’s leading galleries specializing in collectible designs of the XX and XXI centuries.

Just two months from the much awaited event, these are the advances of December’s finery for Art Basel, the cultural celebration that inevitably attracts the world’s gaze towards Miami. The lucky travelers that visit this sunny city will have the opportunity to participate in a great convocation of art, in its multiculturalism, its intense bohemian nights and the selective quality of its many attractions: It will be an experience they will never forget.
