The 1199 Panigale R is an enhanced version of the Panigale S and S Tricolore, made especially for the tracks. Ducati promises “driving reactions and sensations that are closer than ever to the ride on competition motorcycles”.

One of the bike’s strengths is its new motor: a 195 HP Superquadro Twin Engine, integrated into a monocoque frame. Ducati has made special efforts to take advantage of the power of this propellant, and one of the key advantages is its light weight. Engineering solutions have reduced it to the minimum 164 kg (361 pounds). This enables the Panigale R a weight/power ratio of 1.19 CV per kilogram.

To better control this torrent of force, the pilot can choose between three preset engine configurations (Power Mode) to find the most suitable to his riding style, or adapt to the conditions of the road. Although the Panigale R was made for high performance, Ducati also wants it to be versatile and comfortable for everyday use.

All the electronic components of the 1199 Panigale R are controlled through a button that can be accessed to select the most appropriate driving mode or to create a ‘tailor-made’ mode. The suspension’s settings and the traction control can be changed instantly with the simple touch of a button.

The cutting-edge technology is wrapped in elegant, sporty, modern and attractive Italian design. It preserves perfectly the lines that make Ducati different from other bikes in the market. And all this is achieved keeping in mind the racing spirit of a machine built for the track, evident in the front headlights that blend seamlessly with the engine’s cooling ducts. The futuristic-look is completed with full LED lighting, a novelty in the world of motorcycles. ■
