The 23rd annual Cavallino Classic was held at the posh Breakers Hotel in Palm Beach. Celebrating the art of Ferrari, the five day long concourse has become one of the premier Ferrari events in the country.
The day was perfect, with cool temperatures and gorgeous Italian machinery as far as the eye could see. Additionally, several tony vendors, such as the exclusive jewelry company, Graff showed off their spectacular creations amidst champagne and canapés.
The festivities culminated with the Concorso d’Eleganza, where a field of more than 150 of the world’s best Ferraris competed in several categories and classes. The judging in a concourse is done by a select group of judges who are experts in the marque. They look for originality and elegance. Competition is fierce. The Best of Show Competition Ferrari award at the 2014 Cavallino Classic was presented to Scott Geroge‘s 1948 Ferrari 166 Spider Corsa while the Best of Show Gran Turismo Ferrari award was given to the Ferrari 400 Superamerica, owned by Jack and Debbie Thomas.
The Ferrari market is red hot, with many collectors and investors putting their money into classic cars. Particularly, some pre 1970, 12 cylinder Ferraris are appreciating in value at double digits every year (collectibles).
