This new edition confirms artBO’s role as a promoter of the local arts in and outside Colombia. The fair will host around 65 galleries from 20 countries and will introduce 14 individual projects, cured by José Roca, in the Individual Projects section.
Following a well-established tradition, artBO opted for national and international first-line galleries without neglecting their own young prospects. This year, the section Artecamara, will feature exhibitions with works by 23 artists who have no commercial representation, curated by Juan Sebastián Ramírez.
But the proposal is even broader because artBO also has an academic forum curated by María Inés Rodríguez, in which speakers and experts reflect on art collection; as well as an Articulate Didactic Pavilion, which intends to stimulate young people, children and the general public to attend this artistic event.
“This fair is part of a strategy by the Bogota Chamber of Commerce to promote and position the city as a destination for culture and investment, boost the national art scene and foster a place for cultural exchanges for all audiences,” says Mónica de Greiff, Executive President of Bogota’s Chamber of Commerce.
This year, artBO will be characterized by a perfect amalgamation of quality artworks and galleries within a context that is not too large or overwhelming, which makes the visit pleasant and enjoyable. Of the 65 galleries participating, 26 will debut this year, a fact that indicates the growing impact of the fair in the international art market.
“The growth of artBO is steady, but our aim is to achieve a gradual expansion because it is necessary to give the best quality from the participating galleries to guarantee a level of excellence for the collectors and the general public that visit the fair,” says its Director, Maria Paz Gaviria.
The International Art Fair of Bogota, masterfully combining its dual economic and cultural purpose, has become one of the most valuable artistic events in Latin America, as demonstrated by the fact that requests for participation in this significant event forced organizers to double the available space.
