Artistic Perfection: Ruinart Blanc de Blancs and Georgia Russell
Founded in 1729, Ruinart not only provides excellent champagne but also works in partnership with leading artists to create works of art and design. As part of its latest artistic collaboration, the firm invited Scottish artist Georgia Russell, who sought inspiration in the extensive house history and its flagship wine: Blanc de Blancs, a unique cuvée made with Chardonnay grapes. For the emblematic bottle, Russell created a spectacular limited edition casing, which design is inspired by the brilliant pallor of Ruinart’s cellars. The hand-made cutouts reproduce the play of light of the caves’ chalk walls, where the French house keeps its legendary champagne.

French label Remy Martin produces the Black Pearl, an exclusive, limited edition Louis XIII cognac, bottled inside 786 Baccarat dark crystal decanters with platinum touches. This cognac uses Grande Champagne grapes, from the French district that produces the finest cognacs, and it is a mixture of 1,200 spirits— some more than 100 years old— aged in ancient oak barrels. Black Pearl is not only a gourmet delicacy and a work of art but also a collector’s item – a unique investment opportunity. The highest price paid for one of these fine bottles was US$ 83,700, during an auction in Japan in 2013.

Unique Bond: The Spiritual Home by Macallan and Lalique
The Spiritual Home is the fifth edition of The Macallan in Lalique, a legendary series by the Scottish distillery in collaboration with masters of crystal, Lalique. This stunning 62-year-old whisky was originally packaged in November 1950 in two sherry barrels of American oak and then treasured for five years in two Spanish oak barrels, previously used to age sherry.
The old Macallan single malt scotch has a beautiful cherry color; on the nose, it is rich and aromatic, and the flavor of dried fruit, ginger, figs and tobacco leaves entertains the palate, gloriously. It has a clean and very pleasant finish. Easter Elchies House in Craigellachie, one of Macallan’s most iconic properties, was the source of inspiration for the Lalique decanter. The carved texture of the bottle represents the mansion’s sandstone walls, built in 1700 under the watchful eye of Captain John E. Grant, founder of the distillery, and whose initials are engraved on the bottle. ■
