Several of the building´s original features remind us of the elegant Madrid of the early 20th century. These include the sunny central courtyard that lets in natural light through the stained glass windows, the tiles that adorn the façade, created by Ruiz-Luna, as well as the marble floors and wood-paneled walls.
The new Urso has five floors and two basements. The lobby, bar and various meeting rooms are located on the ground floor while the rooms and suites rest on the second floor. Antonio Obrador´s interior decoration reveals a sophisticated, fresh aesthetic that allows guests to feel at home. The resulting space is bright and classic, with an avant-garde spirit.
The hotel has 78 rooms and suites: 27 Double Urso rooms, 33 Deluxe rooms overlooking the gardens of the ancient Palace Villagonzalo, 11 Junior Suites, two Terrace Junior Suites, three Urso Suites and two Terrace Urso Suites. All rooms are spacious and elegant and exude a distinctive flair, with the most-careful decor.
The spectacular suites are the preferred accommodations: the Urso Suite with a living room and separate bedroom, plus a luxury living room for social or business meetings; and the Terrace Urso Suite located in the attic, which has a separate living room and a cozy, charming bedroom. Its huge private terrace has a seating area and dining area, ideal for relaxing and enjoying a sunrise in Madrid, an intimate evening or outdoor celebration.
On the lower floor of the hotel, there is a spa with several treatment rooms, a double cabin, swimming pool with different water therapies, and a Turkish hammam. The Urso Spa uses only the beauty and wellness products from Natura Bisse, the prestigious firm awarded the best luxury Spa brand in 2012 thanks to its ability to combine the latest well-being trends with traditional therapies from different cultures. ■
