Few private yachts have the ability to circle the world with ease. These types of ships—also known as explorers or exploration vessels— are designed to withstand any weather conditions in the most remote corners of the planet. With the characteristics of an explorer and all the features required to circumvent the globe, Tony Castro Design presented its prototype dubbed Global Explorer. Besides counting on Castro’s excellent naval engineering credentials, this modern and exclusive superyacht has all the style and amenities of a luxury hotel.
The British firm Tony Castro Design, founded by the world-renowned Portuguese naval designer Antonio Maria de Lancastre de Mello e Castro, Count of Antas and Viscount of Pernes—also known as Tony Castro—is responsible for the yacht’s design. Castro has been designing all kinds of vessels—from small boats to megayachts that exceed 300 feet—for over three decades. His well-established reputation has earned him praise from the international shipping industry for projects that demonstrate excellent hydrodynamic performance, without neglecting aesthetics or comfort.
For this prototype, the firm takes a 68-meter platform (223 feet) conceived by the Turkish shipyard Sunrise Yachts and enhances it with the most advanced hydrodynamic system to ensure efficiency, robustness, and security.
The result is the Global Explorer, a spectacular super-luxury vessel that is able to accommodate 12 passengers and 15 crew. She is distinguished by sober, rational, and geometric lines. One of her most prominent visual features is the large of windows, which give the ship a sort of rugged elegance. Global Explorer is an attention-grabbing, monumental yacht that will turn heads every time she enters a power or marina. You just can’t take your eyes off a yacht like this. The vessel’s amenities include a master stateroom that covers the full width of the ship, with a dressing room, en-suite bathroom, a bureau and a sitting room. Two VIP cabins for special guests bring the level of luxury and comfort up a notch.
In addition, the yacht gives its owners the ability to carry plenty of additional vehicles and water toys to enhance their exploratory or leisure journeys. You can bring as many as twin limo tenders, a small submarine, jet skis and other sports equipment as well as paddleboards and a variety of inflatables water toys. There is even space for a car and a heliport in a climate controlled folding garage. On the aft deck of the main level, there is a colossal scuba diving pool with a stunning clear glass wall. Below, the aft gangway can deploy on both sides, creating two generous folding balconies that make up a beach club of daunting proportions.
The Global Explorer’s interior reveals a modern elegance and is outfitted with polished woods, marble floors, crown moldings, abundant functional lighting fixtures and majestic finishes. The spectacular windows take center stage all around the yacht, especially in the bow`s panoramic living room on the upper level, which includes a sliding glass sunroof. The ship is also equipped with a cinema, gym, sauna, wine cellar, a fully equipped kitchen, and excellent quarters for the crew.
The Global Explorer by Tony Castro and Sunshine Yachts is the ideal vessel for adventurers seeking to see the most exotic corners of the world’s oceans without sacrificing the luxury and comfort to which they are accustomed. Not surprisingly, this spectacular mega luxury yacht is known as the ocean`s Range Rover. ■
