Hacienda Hotel Vira Vira is a five-star resort near the town of Pucon in the Chilean Patagonia. The resort offers beautiful facilities, fantastic cuisine, endless excursions and, above all, excellent service.
The resort is the brainchild of a couple of Swiss entrepreneurs, Michael and Claudia Paravicini, who decided to leave their European lifestyle, in 2011, to move to this austral paradise, where they planned to open a quiet hotel. They were captivated by the beauty of the unspoiled landscapes along the Liucura River and the stunning views of Villarica volcano.
After acquiring 40 hectares (100 acres) along the river, their enthusiasm grew during construction, and the duo was encouraged to change the original plan of building a modest resort for what we find today: the spectacular Hacienda Hotel Vira Vira.
The distinguishing feature that sets this hotel apart from other all inclusive” 5-star resorts is that the property also functions as a farm (hacienda) that provides all the ingredients used to prepare each one of the meals. Meat, poultry, milk, cheese and other dairy products, bread and pastries, fruits, vegetables, legumes, cereals and even blue and purple shell eggs from Mapuche hens are produced in-house. An accomplished local chef is responsible for creating custom farm-to-table menus for each guest— a luxury hard to find elsewhere— and, above all, with the advantage of being fully included in the room rate.
The resort has three types of accommodations, and each room is finely decorated. The suites, between 35 and 50 square meters (376-538 square feet), are located on the banks of the lagoon and offer spectacular views and private terraces. The 12 individual villas, about 75 square meters (807 square feet), have en suite rooms, splendid living areas and terraces with outdoor Jacuzzi. And finally, there is Ruca, a superb 200-square-meter (2,200 square feet) private house.
Architects and designers paid utmost attention to every detail. Wood paneling, modern metal fireplaces, handmade fabrics and artworks by local artists blend harmoniously with the state of the art lighting systems and advanced construction techniques.
Luxurious, charming and cozy, upon entering the property, the visitor immediately perceives the Swiss essence of its owners revealed by the precision of the architecture, the design and landscaping of the gardens and the outstanding decorative pieces.
Another of the great advantages of the resort is that all excursions are included in the price of the room so guests need not worry about extra expenses of any kind. Read more about Patagonia.
Depending on the time of year, visitors can enjoy skiing, horseback riding, hiking, rafting, fly fishing or sailing. They can observe the local wildlife, visit hot springs, climb the volcano and participate in many other activities organized by the resort’s guides, who will personalize the experience to suit the guests personal interests.
With a fully customized service, the 5-star Hacienda Hotel Vira Vira is nestled in a South American paradise where the traveler discovers and enjoys amazing landscapes, beautiful facilities and meticulous—but friendly—service. ■
