Back in May 2006, Brazilian aviation giant Embraer Executive Jets introduced what was then the company’s latest model, the Lineage 1000, during the European Business Aviation Convention (EBACE) in Switzerland. The extra large business jet has proved to be a resounding success with orders from around the world. Eleven years later, and after the enormous popularity of the Lineage 1000 model, Embraer has released a new version of the private plane under the moniker Lineage 1000E. The revamped version has been dubbed Manhattan Airship. Unique among its class for its über luxurious design and aeronautical features, the new model is an homage to New York’s golden years during the Art Deco period, the 1930s.

The Art Deco theme used by the company carries out to every detail. The elegant exterior design in navy blue with horizontal silver stripes is reminiscent of the pinstriped suits used by Wall Street executives in the pre-war era.

Cabin designers Jay Beever (the company’s design director) and Eddie Sotto (a former creative at Disney), have recreated the aura of New York’s heyday with nods to the city’s famous skyscrapers. The interior features deep mahogany wood panels, hardwood floors, and brass and gold trims, finishes, and accessories. The furnishings are also a throwback to the sumptuous era as is the featured artwork, which includes a metal mural similar to the one found at the Empire State Building.
Once inside, the traveler can join the rest of the passengers in the elegant Cloud Club — a cosmopolitan style bar inspired by the Chrysler Building — to have a cocktail while sitting on the comfortable retractable stools or on its gorgeous mohair/lambskin divan. The stylish lounge also features a loft window inspired by the work of the late modernist French artist Jean-Michel Frank, one of the most famous designers in 1930s New York.

But perhaps this jet’s most impressive space is the Crystal Room, a luxurious enclave that can accommodate up to six passengers for lunch or dinner in opulent surroundings with a table made of precious woods to enjoy the aircraft’s private chef’s culinary delights.
Although the jet is considered the longest in its class, it still adheres to the length limits established by aviation authorities to qualify as an executive jet, which allows it to land and take off from executive airports such as London City in the UK, Aspen ASE in Colorado, or Teterboro in the New York/New Jersey area, among others around the world.
