Vespa and Armani, two Italian brands with significant international presence, have decided to celebrate their anniversaries with the launch of a limited edition Vespa scooter under the named 946 Emporio Armani.

The two companies are a perfect match, not only for their common origin but also for their aesthetics and the Italian elegance displayed in each of their products. In 2015, the Piaggio Group— owner of Vespa— celebrates 130 years of commercial success. At the same time, Emporio Armani is observing its 40th anniversary.
The vintage style was named Vespa 946 Emporio Armani. It pays homage to the year when the legendary scooter was first released by Piaggio in post-war Italy in 1946. At first glance, Armani’s impeccable style is easily appreciated in the design. Below the elegant brown leather seat, the fuel tank cap is decorated with the classic Armani logo in the shape of an eagle. The logo is also printed above the headlight.
For the aluminum exterior panels, Armani introduces a distinct palette of matte gray with subdued hints of green, which are only visible under certain light conditions. Both rear fenders clearly identify the model, with silver appliqués featuring the insignia of Emporio Armani.
The scooter comes with the most advanced mechanical attributes, featuring the latest generation 125cc electronic fuel-injected four stroke injection engine, which ensures greater fuel efficiency and low emissions.
Safety is a great concern for the firm, and the 946 boasts large 12-inch wheels with matching double 220 mm disc brakes and an ABS braking system that provides excellent adhesion and riding comfort. The applied technology in this model also includes an ASR electronic traction control system, high-reach LED lighting in front and rear headlights, as well as an LCD main electronic instrumental.
To celebrate the launch of such a unique vehicle, Emporio Armani has created a fashion line inspired by the Vespa 946 EA, with accessories and clothing designed for scooter rides, using the color palette from the bike.
The line includes jackets, vests, hats, keychains, complementary leather bags, even driving gloves. The line is meant to promote a comprehensive design concept for both sexes, which enhances the cooperation between the two Italian brands.
The new Vespa model was presented by designer Giorgio Armani and Roberto Colaninno, Chairman of Piaggio Group. The price of the scooter has not been listed, and although its release was announced in the main European cities, it is unclear if it will be sold in other continents. One thing is certain: the Vespa 946 will inevitably become a classic bike over the years. Review here more Italian bikes such as NCR. ■
