The Maltese Falcon is a spectacular sailing yacht, 289 feet long by 42.2 feet wide, built by the Italian manufacturer Perini Navi, in its Turkey shipyard. Not only is it one of the largest private yachts in the world, but, in recent years, it has been considered the best sailing vessel of our times.
This jewel of the sea previously belonged to billionaire investor Tom Perkins, but in 2009, it was sold for $120,000,000 (an unconfirmed figure) to the Greek businesswoman Elena Ambrosiadou, who currently resides in Cyprus and was, at one time, the best paid woman in the U.K.. Today, she is the only woman in the world who owns a mega yacht of this magnitude. The good news is that there is a possibility of taking a dream vacation on this mega yacht— for the reasonable price of $470,000 a week.
This exceptional sailboat catches the attention of anyone who loves sailing on the open waters, primarily for its fully automated system that deploys 26,000 square feet of sails, divided into three main masts, in only six minutes. This system, developed in Germany, allows a maximum speed of 24.9 knots, without engine assistance, an amazing performance if we consider the size and weight of the vessel.
The most striking feature is that just one person, using electronic controls from the command center, can handle the sails. The mere fact of witnessing a test of the sailing mechanisms— while the yacht is anchored—is a unique and unrepeatable spectacle.
The Maltese Falcon has a crew of 18, consisting of a captain, two officers, one boatswain, three deckhands, indoor and galleries sailors, three engineers, two chefs and four hostesses. This amazing staff describes the level of luxury, comfort and professionalism aboard the yacht.
There is room, in the posh sailboat, for 12 privileged guests to enjoy a fantastic holiday at sea. They may choose among 5 cabins on the lower deck or the VIP cabin in the upper level, which features two double bedrooms with closets and private gym. If you need more than one luxury suite, the modular cabins on the lower deck can be converted into two large VIP cabins, both with separate bathrooms— for him and her. The interior of this floating palace is as luxurious as expected from such a majestic vessel. But the most spectacular area is the stunning atrium. The three decks are connected through a circular staircase that wraps around the main mast in a spiral. The natural light filters from the ceiling to the lower decks through three levels of glass floors.
The Maltese Falcon’s main deck is a great open space with an enormous salon decorated with modern artworks, connected to the stern cabin, two living rooms and an impressive dining hall.
When it comes to relaxing, the vessel has spacious dining and living rooms decorated with exquisite taste, a state-of-the-arts gym, multiple TV sets with satellite signal and a vast private collection of DVDs. If that is not enough and the weather allows it, you also have the option to enjoy film screenings outdoors, on one of the boat`s sails.

For the young and adventurous, the yacht has all kinds of water sports equipment to avoid boredom. Guests will find jet skis, water skis, wakeboards, two 30-foot long Rib Tenders Pascoe boats, windsurfing equipment, kayaks, inflatable slides and inflatable swimming pools.
The Maltese Falcon offers a unique experience of luxury and sophistication that only a yacht with these features can provide while you sail the waters of the most exotic seas on the planet. Undoubtedly, this is the right combination to make a holiday truly unforgettable.
