French luxury watchmaker Louis Moinet introduces two limited versions of pieces that made an impression for their impeccable elegance and delicate beauty: the Mecanograph Limited Edition and the Mecanograph New York.
By Federico Tibytt
The original version of the Louis Moinet Mecanograph was presented at the 2012 Baselworld Fair and drew attention for its impeccable elegance and delicate beauty. In fact, this piece is most admired for the beauty of the internal mechanisms that operate the 182 parts that make up the timepiece. This year, at the 2014 fair, the French firm surprised again with the extraordinary LM31 mechanism of the Mecanograph Limited Edition. More luxury watches.
Mecanograph Limited Edition.
On the front of the new Louis Moinet Mecanograph, the left half shows the mechanisms of escape, balance, lever and gear train along with a lovely independent seconds hand positioned at 9 o'clock. The traditional middle hands that end in a delicate drop indicate the hours and minutes.
The back of this stunning watch also reveals its interior, where one can appreciate the perfect movements of the mechanism and the elements that embellish it, such as blue screws, parts made with pink gold and polished metals.
With prices that start at $14,600, the Louis Moinet Mecanograph Limited Edition was launched in five versions of limited and numbered editions of 60 copies, identified as follows: body of grade 5 titanium, with the front in black or silver; body of grade 5 titanium adorned with 18K pink gold, with the front in black or silver; body of grade 5 titanium decorated with 18K gold, with the front in brown; and its premium version, with the body made entirely in 18K pink gold, and the front in black or silver.
Mecanograph New York.
As if all this were not enough, the Swiss watchmaker also decided to launch in 2014 a new edition of its Mecanograph design to honor the city of New York. In a limited edition of 120 copies, the Louis Moinet Mecanograph New York displays to the right of the dial a delicate hand carving of the city`s skyline which includes such landmarks as the Empire State Building, the Chrysler Building and the new World Trade Center, as well as the Brooklyn Bridge in the position of 3 o'clock.
All this is displayed on a beautiful midnight blue background with small gold stars decorating the sky. As an exclusive detail, in the position of 1 o’clock, a sphere encloses a tiny sample of the only meteorite fallen on New York soil. This unique piece can be purchased in two versions: the top model made of 18K pink gold, of which only 60 copies will be made, and the remaining 60 pieces that will be manufactured in grade 5 titanium. The prices are $57,100 and $28,500 respectively. ■
