The ability to create ultra thin timepieces is a privilege reserved only to the most prestigious watchmakers immersed in tradition. These complex mechanisms require the best and most precise technology, abundant experience, and quality craftsmanship. Review our curated selection of luxury watches.
Historically, brands such as Jaeger-LeCoultre have specialized in very exclusive timepieces characterized by their exquisite mechanisms assembled by hand in minuscule spaces, delivering—each time—perfect performance. Such is the case with the new versions of the Master Ultra Thin model by Jaeger-LeCoultre, pieces that reveal the elegance and classic beauty that distinguishes this Swiss brand.
Master Ultra Thin Tourbillon. It comes in an extremely slim body with a thickness of only 11.3 mm. Inside there is an automatic system of 28,800 vibrations per hour and a 45-hour power reserve. Made of pink, and white gold, with sapphire crystal both in the front and the back, the only decoration on the front dial is the exposed tourbillon in the position of 6 o’clock. The rest of the dial is discreet with a minimalist design and a light background. One of the ladies’ versions stands out from the rest with a circle of diamonds embellishing its front perimeter.
All Master Ultra Thin Tourbillon models come with a crocodile leather strap in brown or black, complementing the simple, elegant, and classic aesthetics of the line. Its price is around $71,000.
Master Ultra Thin Moon. This model is identical to the Master Ultra Thin Tourbillon, except that at 6 o’clock—instead of the tourbillon—it shows its own added complexities. In this version, a calendar with a fine needle indicates the day of the month, and a viewer with the lunar phases appears in the upper half of the small dial.
The case of the Master Ultra Thin Moon is 9.9 millimeters thick and comes in white gold, pink gold, or steel. The automatic mechanism of only 4.9 millimeters has 246 parts and 38 hours of power reserve, with an oscillation frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour. With sapphire crystal on the front and the back, the background of the front dial is available in brown, ivory white or light silver. It sells for around $19,000.
These two new models continue to highlight the brand’s tradition of making ultra thin watches. In 1907, Jaeger-LeCoultre created the thinnest pocket watch in history at that time. Almost 110 years later, the classic Swiss watchmaker continues to delight us with high precision timepieces of incredible thinness. ■
