A racing vessel with comfort and style.
By Ivan Luque
The Hamilton, the first megayacht in Wally’s WallyCento series, is built for racing as well as cruising in comfort and luxury. It was designed by naval architect Judel Vrolijk. The interior design and exterior styling were done by Design Unlimited. The yacht was built in the UK by the Green Marine yard and launched in June 2012. In total six companies were involved in its creation, all under the direction of team manager James Stagg.
The Hamilton can accommodate up to 8 guests in two guest cabins and a master stateroom. The Wally Cento was built based on the Wally box rule—a set of specific parameters to obtain the best performance. For example the Wally box rule requires that the interior to take up a minimum of 54 % of the hull´s space. The WallyCento Hamilton has won the first Superyacht Cup Cowes regatta; Hamilton won two of the three races assigned for that competition. This megayacht is just shy of 100 feet long.
The Hamilton innovates with a unique three spoke steering wheel created by Konstantin Grcic exclusively for WallyCento, which enhances the aesthetic appeal of the craft. The second megayacht in the WallyCento series is the Magic Carpet Cubed, which is scheduled to compete with the Hamilton in several future racing events. ■
