For yacht lovers, an excursion out to sea is more than just a getaway, it’s a way of life. While demand for these super cruisers had slowed down, a rise in the market that started in 2011 has encouraged manufacturers like Curvelle, to launch new and more specialized models. Known for its high performance and uniquely designed yachts, they put together a team of the finest naval architects, designers and catamaran specialists to create their newest sailing gem. Measuring 110 ft. in length, the Curvelle Quaranta is the longest and the largest carbon hybrid composite power catamaran in the world.

“Carbon composite is a very expensive material but worth it in the long run because of its low weight and low maintenance,” said Luuk V. van Zanten, marketing director for Curvelle. He added that aviation companies like Boeing and Airbus are already using similar materials in the construction of their newest models.

Four years in the making, this catamaran boasts 50% more storage capacity, or about the same of a ship that is 30 feet longer. It is built like a two hull super luxury yacht with a flexible layout feature that can be changed in a matter of hours. Its six double cabins can be converted into three VIP suites, six twins, doubles or any combination of these. “There are over 20 layout possibilities,” said van Zanten.

To assure optimal panorama views, all guest cabins are located on the main deck and fitted with huge windows. They have also been highly imaginative with the use of glass, so every cabin is filled with natural light and of course, fantastic views.

Other luxury features include a four-deck layout, plus a unique lifting platform that lowers you into the water from the main deck. The forward deck offers a Jacuzzi sheltered by a glass screen, and a wet bar is located to port with ample room on deck for several chaise lounges.

Set for delivery on March 2013 in Istanbul, Turkey, the cost of the Quaranta is approximately EUR 9.680.000. Curvelle is also offering a shared ownership program, which allows you access to the yachting life at a fraction of the cost. The program lets you buy a share of the super-yacht, guarantying you three weeks summer cruising in the Mediterranean and two in the Caribbean winter season every year. Plus, members receive part of the proceeds from charters when they are not using the yacht. “We sell our yachts to individuals but also to owner syndicates (up to seven owners per yacht). Each 1/7th syndicate share costs EUR 1.430.000,” said van Zanten.

You are also responsible for your share of the cost of the management company that services and staffs the yacht on your behalf. The carefully selected, highly skilled crew consists of a captain, an engineer, two stewardesses, a chef and a deckhand.
