Our beloved Luly Flynn receives nutritious and delicious meals at home from the magnificent kitchen of Just Foods for Dogs.

I love my miniature Shih-Tzu, LuLu Flynn. When it comes to feeding my little princess, her health is my first priority. The two most important things I look for in dog food are ingredient quality and nutritional balance. I was thrilled to learn about a new service in Southern California, Just Food for Dogs. This amazing concept helps pet owners provide the best healthy dog food to their furry friends.
Just Food for Dogs is “the world’s first dog kitchen” run by a team including a veterinarian, a nutritionist, a pet chef and a crew of dogs and dog lovers. Designed and built to focus entirely on canine nutrition and wellness, the flagship location opened in Newport Beach, California, and a second kitchen now operates in West Hollywood.
Just Food for Dogs uses only fresh, whole food ingredients certified by the USDA for human consumption. Using human grade food is better for your dog because it is nutrient rich, easily digestible and contains no preservatives, fillers and or by-products. Many of the commercial dog foods on the market (in some cases the ‘Premium’ brands are the worst offenders) contain poor quality ingredients that are not nutritious for your dog. Even brands with less offending ingredients heat their product at extreme temperatures for extended periods of time, which reduces the nutritional value. Just Food for Dogs gently cooks dog food in small batches, to the minimum temperature levels, maximizing the nutritional content. The cooking process helps prevents illness through pathogens that can affect dogs and their owners.
In regular dog food, potentially harmful preservatives are used to make it last up to five years. At Just Food for Dogs, there are no preservatives and food is vacuum sealed and frozen immediately. Just Food for Dogs has a shelf life of 12 months in the freezer and 3 - 6 days in the refrigerator.
Switching your dog’s diet to cooked fresh, whole food is a gradual transition process that requires the direction of a professional. Most dogs need time to adjust to a diet that has not been processed. Both locations have well informed staff that can help you get started. Meals can be picked up, shipped almost anywhere in the country, or delivered directly to your home. ■
