Coinciding with the opening of ArtBo, the International Art Fair of Bogotá, Colombia, the general public will be able to view two exhibitions dedicated to the work of the great Italian poet, writer and filmmaker Pier Paolo Pasolini.
Pier Paolo Pasolini.
One of the interesting aspects of this complementary interaction, devised by Marco Milan, is that both shows are developed in different but nearby spaces (across the street from each other): About the Error/Sobre el error will be shown at the Luis Ángel Arango Library, located opposite the Museum of Contemporary Art where El Pasolini e il mondo terzo will be displayed.
About Pier Paolo Pasolini
The brilliant Italian creator was—for many—a clear example of the conceptual error that the Bogota exhibits try to explore. His life and creativity evolved in the heady 1960s and 70s, but both were conditioned by the conservative and decadent Italy of the time. From this contradiction of life, creativity and decline emerged his most chaotic and controversial work, liberating at the same time the Pasolini spirit.
About the Error / On Error
Until mid-December, the Luis Ángel Arango Library will display the work known as About the Error/Sobre el error—a dramatic reflection of the "error" of contradictions when viewed from different angles and artistic expressions. Curators Marco Milan, Mateo López, Bernardo Ortíz, Nicolás París, Daniel Salamanca and Daniel Salguero—all renowned artists—will be joined by five writers: Oscar Collazos, Guillermo Linero, Efraim Medina, Robert Marlowe and Juan Manuel Roca, who will contribute to create multiple visions and artworks, an artist's book that will serve as a bridge between young Colombian artists and the works of the great Pasolini. The exhibition offers a series of reproductions and graphics contained in the book, along with video excerpts of its preparation process.
About the Error/Sobre el error will be on view at the Luis Ángel Arango Library until mid-December 2015.
El Pasolini e il mondo terzo
Simultaneously, at the Museum of Contemporary Art, we will be privy to El Pasolini e il mondo terzo, an exhibit that elucidates the relationship between the Italian writer and filmmaker with the so-called Third World through images, movies and books that show the vision of a future without hope for the "civilized world". Select excerpts from Pasolini’s books will be showcased, as well as audio modules where fragments of his work can be heard. ■
