Tradition encounters modernity with
The Britain, Burberry’s watch collection

A powerful fusion of modernity and British tradition is presented Burberry’s watch line The Britain. Exclusively made with for the different facets of the Burberry man and woman in mind, the collection blends the best of Burberry’s iconic fashion style, with top of the line Swiss engineering. Christopher Bailey, Burberry’s Chief Creative Officer, describes The Britain as the embodiment of the rich British heritage in all its glory. For him, it is a very personal project on which the brand worked for a very long time. And the beauty and machinery of the watches, without a doubt, resemble that detailed exertion.

Carefully designed and inspired in the legendary Burberry Trench Coat the innovative timepieces expose the style of the British house to the fullest. “The design is in the detail — all influences from the iconic Burberry trench coat, from the D-rings and trench coloured dials, to these strong bolts that hold the case and protect the movement from the elements,” describes Bailey.

The octagonal shapes featured in The Britain Collection complement its modern and simple dials, which place primary emphasis in its design. A transparent case back made with sapphire crystal magnifies the automatic movement and showcases its extraordinary engineering while the anti-reflective, shock and scratch-resistant sapphire crystal protects the dial. The collection offers the possibility of choosing from alligator straps in trench, classic brown and matte black. The bracelets come in stainless steel with brushed and polished surface combinations. All iconic hands feature custom designed Super LuminovaIconic Burberry color palette including trench, matte black, gunmetal, stainless steel, dark brown and black.

The Britain’s craftsmanship is a Swiss-made self-winding mechanical movement with the automatic movements featuring circular Geneva Stripes design and the Burberry symbol on the rotor. Two depths are created in the face of the dial with a unique gradation technique. The movement features intricate material combinations that include grey, stainless steel, fuchsia and of course one of the main influences on the brand’s palette, black.

As Christopher Bailey describes, “The Britain marries our heritage and functional design values with modernity and innovation, creating a watch that is as elegant as it is relaxed.” In both 43mm and 47mm sizes there is an exquisite variety of models to choose from, each of them for different tastes and lifestyles but with the British elegance and tradition in common.

The latest incorporation into the collection is The Britain Travel GMT, which is made with a traveler profile in mind and a British pilot look that presents a second time zone function with the 24-hour clock displayed between standard time. The straps are black with red or yellow contrast stitching, and clients can choose from black titanium materials or stainless steel. This timepiece is part of a series of travelers' models presented at the 2014 Baselworld fair and that according to critics promises to make an impact into even the most demanding watch aficionados.
